The KLCC Journey
KL Custom Carpentry was founded in 2016 by Kyle Lakenburges in Germantown, Illinois. Prior to starting his own business, Kyle gained seven years of experience in residential construction and millwork, which deepened his passion for hands-on work and problem-solving.
Since its inception, Kyle has helped clients create beautiful and functional custom carpentry, bringing their unique visions to life. He is committed to using high-quality materials to ensure that his pieces are durable and built to last. With his extensive experience in residential construction, remodel, millwork, and design, he guides customers through the entire process, from start to finish.
Kyle holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and an Associate’s degree in Construction Management. He began his career as a carpenter in general construction, where he worked for eight years on various projects, including full residential builds, remodels, concrete work, kitchens, roofing, and finish work.
After that, Kyle spent four years as a millwork carpenter, operating both traditional and specialized equipment such as moulders, planers, joiners, and various hand tools. His focus during this time was on creating custom trim, moldings, doors, windows, shiplap, and cabinets.
